Artist Statement 

Words and images are inexplicably linked; when we read, we create a picture in our heads and when we look at art, we use words to describe it, to relate to it, to understand it. With my work I want to illustrate the so called untranslatable words; play with the storytelling of classical tales as well as my own fiction; and bring the intangible to life. I want those who see my drawings to have mixed emotions -- fighting with the visceral and the logical. It is my plan to take my images out of the pages of a book or the pixels on the internet and then place them in the physical world with an artistic context.
